Types Of Treatment

Treatment is mainly "hands on" and is tailored to each individual. We are very aware that most people are anxious about what the treatment will be like, and we aim to be as gentle as possible whilst still being effective.

Any of the following kinds of treatment may be included. If you are not keen on one particular type of treatment (e.g. Acupuncture or having joints clicked) discuss this with your Osteopath and we can use an alternative method.

  • Gentle Stretching and Articulatory Techniques

    To release stiffness and tension

  • Faster Manipulations

To free restricted joints with a distinctive click

  • Massage based techniques

For muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia

  • Acupuncture

All the Osteopaths at Crewenna House have done additional courses in Acupuncture for back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions

  • Ultrasound

    Particularly effective for Sports Injuries

  • Advice and Excercises

    To help prevent problems reoccurring

We allow half an hour for each appointment.

Some conditions can be resolved with only one session, but usually a course of treatments is required. As a general rule, the longer you have had the symptoms, the longer they will take to resolve. You will usually feel some relief after the first session, but if there is no improvement after 3 sessions, your Osteopath will reassess you and take appropriate action.

When you are better, we may suggest you come back for occasional maintenance treatments - you are under no obligation to do this, but many people find this helpful for general well being and to help prevent symptoms returning.
